Testimonials

Chief Doug Stephens, Littleton Police Dept
The Littleton Police established an active Chaplain program in 2013 to support officers dispatch, department personnel, and their families. Our Chaplains are members of Rocky Mountain Police Chaplains, which provides critical and necessary training, to ensure our department is healthy, engaging in the community, and helping our families thrive. I fully endorse our Chaplains and the Rocky Mountain Police Chaplains. They are not only making our Department a better place, but are also improving the lives of our employees.

SAC Michael Schneider, FBI
For the past two years, I had the pleasure of serving as the special agent in charge of the FBI's Denver Field Office. I led the office through situations where, fortunately, we had the chaplains available, and they were able to perform a key role in providing support to our employees.

Chief Bill Kilpatrick, Golden Police Dept
Our Chaplains have been called upon to provide comfort to members who are sick or who have lost a loved one. They have provided in service training in areas such as stress management. They have married our folks as well as conducted memorial services for them. They can and do act as a sounding board for members who are experiencing work related and personal issues. They provide education to our new hires and their families as part of their orientation. They have been present with officers, after an officer involved shooting, as the officers waited to be interviewed by critical incident response team investigators. They've assisted in death notifications to members of the public. They have been involved in the last several multi-agency response efforts relating to the shootings of police officers. I fully support them in this effort and hope you do so.

Sheriff Shayne Heap, Elbert County SO
The Elbert County Sheriff's Office established an active Chaplain program to support officers, dispatch, department personnel, and their families. Our Chaplains are members of Rocky Mountain Police Chaplains, which provides critical and necessary training, to ensure our department is healthy, engaging in the community, and helping our families thrive.

SERGEANT JD JEPKEMA WHEAT RIDGE PD
"FROM MY PERSPECTIVE THE CHAPLAIN UNIT HAS PROVEN TO BE A TREMENDOUS RESOURCE FOR OUR ORGANIZATION, PROVIDING OUTSTANDING SUPPORT FOR SWAT AND PATROL ALIKE. THANKS AGAIN FOR YOUR RESPONSIVENESS TO OUR NEEDS."

DETECTIVE JAMIE GUESS GOLDEN POLICE DEPARTMENT
"OUR CORE GROUP OF CHAPLAINS ARE AMAZING! WHEN THINGS GET TOUGH, THEY HELP YOU REMEMBER YOU'RE STILL HUMAN BEHIND THE BADGE YOU WEAR. THEY BRIGHTEN YOUR DAY BY SIMPLY CHECKING IN TO SEE HOW THINGS ARE GOING AND THEY ARE THERE TO CELEBRATE THE BLESSINGS IN YOUR LIFE. OUR CHAPLAINS HAVE BEEN A LIFE SAVER FOR ME ON MORE THAN ONE OCCASION. I CAN'T IMAGINE THE POLICE LIFE WITHOUT THEM."

Background Statement

Rocky Mountain Police Chaplains (RMPC) was founded in 2014 and exists to guide chaplains in understanding the mission; by equipping them with knowledge, skills, and abilities to serve with confidence and excellence. We value and are motivated by integrity, professional service, confidentiality, and genuine care. We serve by providing mental, emotional, and spiritual support to law enforcement agencies and first responders; through the developing and executing of chaplaincy programs and services. RMPC seeks to unify, connect, train, and resource Police Chaplains in Colorado, Wyoming, and New Mexico.

Prior to the RMPC there was limited or no interaction between police chaplains and there was no governing organization within our region. This lack of direction and vision left the individual chaplain programs to develop segmented programs. In addition, existing chaplain programs had no outside accountability in recruitment, training, policy, methodology, or interactive crisis response. There was a huge void that needed to be filled.

RMPC is now seen as the governing police chaplain agency in the Rocky Mountain Region. We have filled the gap and developed the police chaplain standard. There is now a fully functioning network of trusted relationships amongst chaplain programs.
