This Colorado Gives Day, Roscoe's Rescue is proud to continue our mission of providing a safe haven for abandoned and neglected farm and exotic animals. Your support helps us offer compassionate care, rehabilitation, and a nurturing environment where these animals can heal and thrive. Through your generous donations, we can meet the unique needs of each animal, from basic nutrition to medical care, and ensure they receive the love and respect they deserve. Join us in making a difference this Colorado Gives Day—together, we can create brighter futures for these deserving animals!
Our mission is to provide a sanctuary for non-traditional pets, including farm and exotic animals, who have been abandoned or neglected. We are dedicated to offering compassionate care, rehabilitation, and a safe, nurturing environment where these animals can thrive. Through community education and advocacy, we aim to raise awareness about the unique needs and rights of all animals, promoting kindness and respect for every living creature.
From cows to pigs to chinchillas and guinea pigs, Roscoe's Rescue focuses on providing a happy, safe, luxurious forever home for animals in need! We are currently home to 22 big cows, 3 mini cows, 11 pigs, 3 goats, 1 miniature donkey, 4 emus, 2 guinea pigs, 3 cats, 4 chinchillas, 4 rabbits, 4 ducks, 2 turkeys, 2 hedgehogs and 5 dogs.
Our rescue was named after one of our original adopoted pigs, Roscoe. He was the third pig to join our family.
Roscoe came to live with us when he was a baby, having been born to a pregnant rescued pig at another sanctuary in 2017. We spent a lot of time volunteering there, and were the ones who gave this sweet piglet his name! Roscoe had a harder start to life; he was the runt in his litter (with 7 siblings), and developed a hernia at only a couple of weeks old. He needed surgery to repair the hernia, and needed a safe place to land afterwards.
Roscoe came home to us in the summer of 2017, and formed a strong bond to our first pig, Diasy Mae. He helped her navigate the house and backyard, as she is blind. He also helped Daisy get her exercise, as he loved to play and pull shenanigans. Roscoe loved to give mom (Kris) kisses, loved stealing fresh garlic and onions from the garden, and loved showing off his tricks, like sit and spin. In 2021, we started thinking about moving to a larger property, where Roscoe could have more space for his big adventures, and where all of our pigs could have their own rooms and outdoor space to live their happiest lives. Roscoe became ill that year, and we lost him to kidney failure. He was just shy of his 4th birthday, and while he left a massive hole in our hearts, he inspired us to create Roscoe's Rescue.
