Safe Passage is the safe place where child victims receive forensic healing services and then begin their healing process. Your financial contribution will ensure that all child victims receive the protection and support they need to heal from the trauma of abuse.
The mother of a child victim who received services at Safe Passage wrote: "Our world was a storm and they brought calm. Our Advocate would always say that it would be OK, that this wouldn't consume our lives. And she was right."
A child victim after her forensic interview stated, "I like how I was listened to and understood. Also how I could tell the truth and have no limits."
The mission of Safe Passage is to give abused children a voice and enable the healing process by acting as the single source of contact for medical, investigative, and legal services.
Safe Passage was incorporated as a non-profit organization in 1994. This children's advocacy center supports and protects more than 1,200 child victims each year. Children who are victims of sexual assault or physical abuse, or who are witness to violent crimes come to Safe Passage for the necessary forensic and healing services. Safe Passage grew out of small program operated by Colorado's Fourth Judicial District Attorney's Office. The founders recognized the need for a larger investigative and support program and, in response, developed an accredited children's advocacy center. It is the goal of Safe Passage to provide the necessary and healing services to every child victim of abuse in El Paso and Teller Counties and the entire Pikes Peak Region.
