Huerfano County Youth Services (DBA) Sangre de Cristo Center for Youth (SCCY) continues to move forward with momentum as the facility reaches the 24th year of operation. SCCY is a small grassroots youth-serving non-profit located in Huerfano County, which is in south-eastern Colorado. SCCY provides a safe place, without discrimination, for the youth of the community. SCCY also provides healthy snacks, a place to complete homework, a place to "hang out" that is monitored and safe. A craft room filled with endless opportunities for self-expression is available at the facility, and a staff that provides a "compassionate ear" to the youth is always on duty at the center. A garden space is a part of the program, and it provides a true outdoor learning lab. The garden provides the youth with healthy food choices and the opportunity to see the growing process from seed to harvest.
