Operation Santa Claus

A nonprofit organization

Operation Santa Claus is a charity that provides food and toys to local Denver families in need at Christmas Time.

December 17th, 2020 will be Operation Santa Claus' 63rd delivery. Contact us if you have ideas on how to make this year's delivery even more positive for the front range community.

Testimonials

In 2019, OSC volunteers brought Christmas to over 260 front range families in one night; as far south as Colorado Springs and as far north as Fort Collins. Without OSC, last year almost 850 kids might not have had "Christmas".

The board of OSC has consisted of aerospace employees from the Denver Metro Area volunteering in the community on their personal time. The charity was started more than 60 years ago, when employees decided not to give presents to each other, but instead to buy presents for local shelters. Since then it has grown into a full blown operation and helps hundreds of children and families across the local area annually.

Our charity fund raises all year long to raise enough money to provide this service to those in need every December. Every year, the week before Christmas we bring holiday spirit to over 250 front range families in need. Our volunteers deliver 5 boxes of food, and toys for every child in the family.

We receive information for struggling families from places like Salvation Army, Local Churches, Veteran Organizations, and shelters.
These partner organization let us know of families that have been through their centers that are in need of help and are unable to provide for their families during the holiday.

Mission

"We're For Kids"

Operation Santa Claus, is a non-profit charitable corporation providing assistance in the form of gifts, food, services and cash as appropriate to designated needy members of the Denver metropolitan area. Recipients are determined solely on the basis of need and the availability of resources of the Corporation and without regard to sex, race, creed, religion or similar characterization.

Background Statement

It all started in 1958 with a small group of Martin Marietta employees who wanted to make a difference. Their plan was simple: ask fellow employees to set aside the amount of money they normally spent on holiday greeting cards for their colleagues, and donate it to help the community's less fortunate. Because these individuals were blessed with good jobs and income, they wanted to share their good fortune with others.

At the time, they had no idea their initial fundraising efforts of $343.50, enabling them to provide assistance to a handful of families, would continue to grow to the extent that it has. Operation Santa Claus serves at least 250 families and over 800 children annually with food and gifts during the Christmas holiday season.

In 1982, the group formally organized as the Sedlmayer/Martynec Fund Inc., dba Operation Santa Claus, and incorporated as a Colorado non-profit organization. Ken Sedlmayer and Walt Martynec are recognized as the forefathers of the organization.
