Seed Studio serves over 300 families of diverse socio-economic backgrounds in the Four Corners region. We share scholarships with any individual in need to promote the accessibility, equity, and diversity of our programs. Our staff is composed six part-time employees and teachers.

Seed Studio offers something for everyone. In the fall, winter, and spring, our studio puts on Seedlings Playshops for kiddos ages 3 to 5 years old; an after-school Creative Kid's Club, Art Lab, and Art + Lit for children in grades K to 5; and Elevated Art programs and the Leadership in Learning and Education (LITE) for tweens and teens. For 9-R's professional development days, we host workshops so that working parents have a place for their children to learn and create while they are at the office. In the summertime, Seed Studio continues their LITE program and has camps, where our young artists explore an array of places from the rainforest to our garden at Soil Lab through a plethora of media from canvases to clay. In summer of 2024, we introduced the Artist's Pathway for Teens program, where participants interested in pursuing art as a career were able to explore the business, marketing, and creative sides of being a professional artist. Year-round, we offer a variety of adult workshops taught by local artists and open our doors once a month in the evening to host Parents' Night Out.

We strive to create a setting for our students to learn the importance of mindfulness practices of slowing down and being present in everyday actions. We combine mindfulness practices with process-oriented art projects to act as a vehicle to help our students learn and appreciate everything has a natural unfolding. Together these processes teach our students problem solving skills, increase self-confidence and resilience, create a space of collaboration over competition, and have fun.

Mission

Planting seeds of mindfulness, creativity, and self-expressions through ART + YOGA + NATURE.

VISION STATEMENT

Our art programs are rooted in fine art principles, combined with contemporary trends, and loaded with individual expression. The significance to our programs are that we place great value in collaboration over competition. We pride ourselves on curating an innovative art curriculum that grows with each person that blends mindfulness practices with a deep appreciation for our place in the natural world.

Background Statement

THE SEED STUDIO APPROACH

HIGH QUALITY MATERIALS

Each week we dabble with different media, blending high-quality materials with reusable and recycled ones when we can. Our "wall" of materials that we pull from for our projects includes oil pastels, liquid watercolors, acrylic paints, heavyweight paper, clay, glazes, print-making tools, and more.

MULTIPLE UNIQUE PROJECTS

Students create original and unique fine art projects, guided by a mix of open-ended and guided lessons. We have been known to take on some pretty ambitious projects, so clear some wall and shelf space!

LOW TEACHER/STUDENT RATIO

Each artist feels encouraged and challenged as we strive to maintain a ratio of 1:10.

BENEFITS OF SEED STUDIO CLASSES

We want our students to see themselves as progressive, successful creative learners and as unique individuals. We focus on teaching each person according to his, her, or their own strengths. All students get to progress at their own pace and honor where they are in their creative process.

Middle school and high school students have the opportunity to serve as mentors and to take leadership roles with Seed's Leadership in Training and Education (LITE) program that is offered year-round. The spirit of cooperation and caring makes it possible for them to help each other as individuals not see each other as competitors.

IT'S YOUR ART

Yes! All of the art created in our studio is each individual's piece--no meddling pencil strokes of a teacher. It's amazing what can be accomplished with a little guidance and enthusiasm!
