South Metro Land Conservancy

A nonprofit organization

South Metro Land Conservancy turns 30 years old this year!

As we share our 30th anniversary with our community, help us celebrate with your Colorado Gives Day donation! SMLC is excited to share our participation in this annual day of giving to raise funds for local nonprofits. You can make your donation anytime between November 1 and Colorado Gives Day on December 5!

Throughout South Metro Land Conservancy’s 30-year history, the organization has focused on the acquisition and preservation of open space in the south metro area. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, SMLC has initiated or participated in conservation and land preservation projects totaling over 10,300 acres of protected open space.

We believe that SMLC’s efforts have been key to the quality of life that we enjoy. There is no question that open space, parks, trails and natural areas are integral to what we are as a community.

Make this our most impactful year of giving yet and support our mission to increase understanding and appreciation of open spaces, natural areas, parks and trails in the lives of people of all ages. We greatly appreciate your support!

Mission

SMLC’s mission is to increase understanding and appreciation of the profound importance of open spaces, natural areas, parks and trails in the lives of people of all ages. SMLC does this through advocacy, open space acquisition and educational projects.

Background Statement

Throughout South Metro Land Conservancy’s 30-year history, the organization has focused on the acquisition and preservation of open space in the south metro area. As a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization, SMLC has initiated or participated in conservation and land preservation projects totaling over 10,300 acres of protected open space.

Today, SMLC also focuses on connecting people of all ages with nature close to home. One example, is our funding of a Vision Plan for a park in a densely populated part of the community. That work has resulted in the local recreation district designing multi-million dollar improvements to Powers Park. Please read more about it here: https://www.smlc.land/our-projects/
