Over the last several years the Foundation has awarded over $75,000 in Cancer Care Grants to individuals living in Montezuma County. The $1,000 grants can be used to assist in the everyday needs for cancer patients and their families. The burden of cancer can affect individuals in many ways and aside from medical costs, funds can assist with almost any need including transportation, living expenses, travel, housing or other related needs.
The Southwest Memorial Hospital Foundation is a 501(c)3 that supports and assists Southwest Health System in providing quality health care by supporting programs and initiatives to improve healthcare in Montezuma and Dolores Counties. Over the years the Foundation has successfully undertaken many initiatives, including attracting new physicians to the area, providing furnishings, awarding grants to SHS departments within SHS, Cancer Care grants, and purchasing new medical equipment.
Founded in 1992, the Southwest Memorial Hospital Foundation formed as a resource to residents in Montezuma and Dolores Counties. The Foundation has through the years held events that bring community members together and often to showcase the best of what our Southwest region has to offer.
