Street Wise Arts is a 501c3 nonprofit arts organization based in Boulder, CO. Our mission is to create mural projects, community events, and youth education programs that enhance the urban environment, amplify diversity, and engage people in activism and dialogue. Our core values are advocating for equity and representation for artists, building cross-sector collaborations, and contributing to a diverse cultural landscape.
Street Wise Arts was founded in 2015 with a mission to bring more public art installations and opportunities in Boulder and to provide more cross-sector collaborations through public art projects. In 2016, we launched our youth programs for high school students exploring social justice and identity through public art.
In 2019, we expanded our mission to prioritize activism, diversity, equity, and inclusion. We launched Boulder's first mural festival centered around ARTivism (the intersection of art and activism) to highlight and support environmental justice, racial and cultural diversity, and support community connections. We prioritize working with a diverse group of artists, especially those from historically underrepresented and marginalized populations including BIPOC, women, and LGBTQIA. Street Wise Arts formed as a 501c3 community nonprofit in 2020.
