Truckers Against Trafficking is using targeted systems change to raise up a mobile army of transportation professionals to assist law enforcement in the recognition and reporting of human trafficking, in order to aid in the recovery of victims and the arrest of their perpetrators.
"I'm a truck driver's wife. He's told me stories of things he's seen. I've been against sex trafficking for the last several years when it was brought to my attention. I'm glad there's an organization like TAT to help spread the word about the harms, etc. Thanks to the drivers for keeping your eyes open for those still trapped and bound in the chains of this dark business." -Stephanie C.
"No human being, no matter what nation they come from, what language they speak, or what religion they practice, deserves to be enslaved and treated like property to be used and discarded like something disposable." -Brian A., truck driver
"Many people fail to see what is often right before them. The silent cries for help fall on deaf ears and a blind eye is turned. Some is by choice, others simply do not know the truth. Oftentimes the truth is shocking. In almost, if not every major city, and many small towns across America, slavery is alive and well. The shackles of the cotton fields of the South have been replaced by the sexual exploitation of young women and children. They are bought and sold like livestock, lured and even stolen right off the streets of their hometown. Beaten, drugged and forced into bondage with their youth and childhood stolen from them. It is happening right before our very eyes, if only we would see. But a change is slowly taking place. The calls across the airwaves of the cb for the party girls, working girls or lot lizards, are slowly fading away. The once opening of the door for fun is changing as well. All this is being replaced by trucks that proudly display the Truckers Against Trafficking window decals. Inside these trucks are good men and women armed with the knowledge, information and the truth, to see these kids and women for what they really are...victims! Times are changing. You see the TAT posters, DVD's, decals and wallet cards in truck stops, trucking companies, motels and all other types of businesses. Knowledge and truth are a contagious thing. Thanks to Truckers Against Trafficking the battle to free our children from slavery is being fought. You may still choose to turn a blind eye or a deaf ear, but thanks to TAT, you can no longer say that you do not know the truth! 1-888-3737-888...be a hero and make the call. The child you help save could be right next door." -Tony G., truck driver
Truckers Against Trafficking (TAT) is a 501(c)3 that exists to educate, equip, empower and mobilize the members of the trucking, bus and energy industries to combat human trafficking.
Truckers Against Trafficking began as an initiative of Chapter 61 Ministries in March 2009, when Lyn Leeburg realized that members of the trucking industry are the eyes and ears of the nation's highways and could play a critical role in this fight. In September 2011, TAT became its own 501(c)3 and Kendis Paris, Lyn's daughter, became its executive director. In that same year, TAT released its 28 minute training DVD, which provides a comprehensive view of domestic sex trafficking and what the trucking industry can do to combat it. This training video help to foster the growth and impact TAT began to have among members of the trucking industry, and is integral to its overall training program. TAT has three main goals: 1) To saturate trucking and related industries with its training materials so that when folks witness human trafficking--specifically any minor engaged in commercial sex or anyone, regardless of age or gender, that appears to be under the control of a pimp--they call the National Hotline at 1-888-3737-888 and report what they know. 2) To partner with law enforcement and government agencies to facilitate the investigation of human trafficking. We do this primarily through the calls and tips that are coming into the hotline, through the scouting and intel the trucking industry can provide, and through our coalition builds. 3) To marshal the resources of our partners to combat this crime. With the help of TAT, the trucking industry has become one of the most well-organized industry groups working to help combat human trafficking.
