Welcome to Tech Pals – Bridging the Digital Divide for Older Adults!

At Tech Pals, we are on a mission to connect older adults with the technology they need to thrive in today’s digital world. We believe that technology is more than just a tool; it’s a bridge to independence, connection, and quality of life for older adults. Our programs, workshops, and personalized assistance empower older adults to engage with technology, helping them stay connected with family, access essential services, and discover new hobbies.

Our Vision

We envision a world where older adults are empowered to navigate and enjoy the digital landscape confidently, without barriers. Through personalized support and innovative solutions, we help older adults overcome challenges and become tech-savvy participants in their communities.

Our Mission

Tech Pals is dedicated to improving the lives of older adults by providing access to technology education, support, and resources that foster digital inclusion. We strive to reduce isolation, improve mental health, and increase access to important services through technology.

What We Do

At Tech Pals, we focus on creating a positive, engaging, and supportive environment for older adults as they learn to navigate today’s fast-paced digital world. Our programs are tailored to meet the unique needs of older adults, from basic technology skills to advanced learning opportunities. Here’s how we do it:

1. VR Silver – Life Enriching Virtual Reality for Older Adults

Our groundbreaking VR Silver program is revolutionizing the way older adults engage with technology. Through Project LEVR (Life Enriching Virtual Reality), we are bringing immersive experiences directly to older adults in a fun, interactive way. Whether it’s traveling the world without leaving home, revisiting favorite vacation spots, or experiencing something new like an underwater adventure, VR Silver is opening new doors for older adults. These experiences help combat social isolation, improve cognitive health, and provide therapeutic experiences for those with limited mobility.

2. Personalized Tech Training

We offer one-on-one tech training sessions and workshops designed to meet older adults where they are on their technology journey. Whether learning how to use a smartphone, video chat with family, or access medical services online, our tech mentors provide hands-on support. Our patient and dedicated volunteers help older adults build the confidence they need to explore and master the digital tools that matter most to them.

3. Intergenerational Programs

Tech Pals is more than just about teaching technology—it’s about building connections between generations. Our intergenerational programs bring together older adults and younger tech-savvy volunteers to share knowledge, build relationships, and bridge the generational divide. Through these programs, we foster a sense of community, respect, and mutual learning that benefits all participants.

4. Accessible Tech Devices and Support

For many older adults, access to technology is the first hurdle. Tech Pals ensures that all older adults, regardless of their financial situation, have access to the devices they need. We provide refurbished tech devices such as smartphones, tablets, and computers, as well as ongoing tech support. We also help connect older adults with low-cost internet services to ensure they remain digitally connected.

Why Support Tech Pals?

By supporting Tech Pals, you are helping older adults live more connected, engaged, and fulfilling lives. Technology plays a critical role in reducing social isolation, enhancing mental health, and providing access to essential services like telehealth and financial management. But for many older adults, the digital divide keeps them from accessing these life-enhancing opportunities.

When you donate to Tech Pals, you are providing:

  • Access to Technology: Your donation helps us provide devices and internet access to older adults who would otherwise go without.
  • Tech Education & Support: Your contribution allows us to continue offering personalized training and workshops so older adults can confidently use digital tools.
  • Innovative Programs: Your support helps expand programs like VR Silver and Project LEVR, which offer unique and enriching experiences for older adults.
  • Community Building: Your donation fosters connections between generations, creating a stronger, more inclusive community.

Background Statement

Tech Pals Background & History

Founded in 2019, Tech Pals was born out of a simple yet profound vision: to empower seniors with the skills and tools to thrive in an increasingly digital world. Recognizing the growing divide between seniors and technology, founder Leah Baum launched Tech Pals as a way to bridge this gap, offering a supportive and engaging environment for older adults to learn and feel confident using modern devices and platforms.

Since its inception, Tech Pals has provided hands-on training, one-on-one mentorship, and community-driven workshops to seniors, helping them connect with loved ones, access vital information, and stay active in an ever-evolving digital landscape. Over time, our efforts have expanded to include VR Silver, a cutting-edge program designed to introduce seniors to the world of virtual reality. With VR Silver, seniors are able to explore immersive experiences that enhance cognitive, emotional, and physical well-being.

What started as a local initiative has grown into a recognized leader in senior digital literacy, partnering with senior centers, community organizations, and tech experts across the country. Through our dedicated volunteers and generous supporters, Tech Pals continues to fulfill its mission of bringing technology to seniors in a way that is approachable, meaningful, and life-changing.
