This is not just a dream; it became a reality in 1993 when Age and his brother Aaron launched the groundbreaking Gospel Rap group “Preachas in da Hood,” also known as Age & Flow. With a mission to share their message, they took their talents to the streets, touching lives with their music and authenticity.

As former gang members, Age and Aaron intimately understand the challenges faced by individuals in the shadows of society. They turned their past into a powerful tool for connection, reaching out to gang members and bringing hope to those who need it most. Their inspiring performances in detention facilities offered solace and encouragement to countless individuals, reminding them that change is possible.

At the same time, Joe Aragon was making waves in Denver Public Schools, partnering with DPS to uplift at-risk youth and gang members. Through character education classes and an unwavering commitment to fostering a brighter future, Joe forged invaluable connections with students, parents, teachers, and community leaders.

In a serendipitous meeting in 1994, Joe and Age, both dedicated volunteers in the “Save Our Youth” outreach program, forged a lifelong friendship that would fuel their collective mission.

Fast forward to the spring of 2002, when ‘AGE’ bravely launched a community outreach program for high-risk families in Denver's inner city. This initiative blossomed into the innovative Hip Hop church, Tha Myx, in January 2009. By October, Joe joined forces with ‘AGE,’ amplifying Tha Myx's mission to provide comprehensive support to those who need it most.

Before Tha Myx even existed, Age and Joe were already making significant strides in their communities. Since 1994, their outreach concerts in local parks brought live music, breakdancing, free food, clothing, hygiene kits, and essential resources directly to those in need. For over three decades, this dynamic duo has served as a beacon of hope and mentorship for countless youth and families.

Today, Tha Myx stands as a formidable non-profit organization, securing local and federal grants to enhance its impact across Denver. With programs such as Community Violence Intervention, Gang Intervention and Prevention, Violence Mediation, music production, and more, Tha Myx is not just making a difference—it’s changing lives.
