Tha Myx International Denver

Background Statement

Tha Myx was founded in 2002 by Adrian ‘AGE’ Sandoval.

Nine years earlier, September, 1993, Joe Aragon began his partnership DPS to work with highly aggressive youth and gang members enrolled in Denver Public Schools on the west side. Developing and teaching character education classes, casting vision for futures of these youth many lives were being touched. Joe began to build relationships with students, parents, teachers, school admin, community agencies and ministries.

Spring of 2002, 'Age' launched a community outreach program targeting high-risk families in the inner city of Denver. ‘AGE’ formerly opened a Hip Hop club called Club Omega in Southwest Denver which eventually turned into a Hip Hop church Called Tha Myx (January 2009). Joe joined forces with 'Age" at Tha Myx (October 2009). Working with high-risk families this was the component that completed the wrap around services that Tha Myx was now able to provide.

Prior to that Age, “Preachas in da Hood” and Joe Aragon, “Born Again Kings” we’re doing outreach concerts in local parks and venues which included live music, breakdancing, free food, clothing, hygiene kits and many other resources for the community. This, dating back to early 1994 when the duo formed a lifelong friendship.

From outreaches in the parks to Club Omega to Community Violence Intervention to Denver’s first Hip Hop church, Tha Myx formed a non-profit organization and begun securing local and federal grants. Tha Myx was granted its opportunity to make an impact on the City of Denver.

Through programs such as Community Violence Intervention, Gang Intervention and Prevention, Violence Interruption, Violence Mediation, Violence De-Escalation, music production, sound & lighting engineering, Airbrushing & Digital Artwork, Hoops and Raps, and silk screening the Community Outreach work began. This Dynamic Duo has been mentoring youth and providing families with resources since 1994.

Tha Myx International is now spear headed by CEO Pastor Joe Aragon. Pastor Joe continues to keep the legacy going and continues to work with high risk Youth and their Families. Today Tha Myx is supported by Private Parties, City, State and Federal grants.
