$10,000 Goal

Due to historical and current forces, access to higher education remains elusive and formidable for young women and young men of the tribes of the Southwest. Please help us support the dreams of students of the Hopi, Ute, Navajo, Apache, Yavapai, Arapaho, Tohono O'odham, Havasupai and other tribes.

Testimonials

" SWNAF helped me matriculate to Stanford University from Monument Valley High School in Kayenta, Arizona on the Navajo Nation. Once at Stanford, SWNAF also provided local contacts and supports while I was away at college. I am forever grateful to SWNAF and its Board and Donors for the role it played in my life - earning my undergraduate degree." Ashlynn Black, Navajo, Stanford University Graduate.

Giving Activity

Mission

To provide the students of Native American tribes in the Southwest with the opportunity of higher education by offering scholarships to outstanding high school students and enrolled university students. We believe that EVERYONE, regardless of background or financial situation should have this opportunity.

Background Statement

Founded in 2004, for 16 years SWNAF has presented scholarships totaling $500,000 to the students of the tribes of the Southwest. Originally founded as The Northern Arizona Native-American Foundation, the intense demand and need for scholarships compelled the reorganization that led to the the renaming. Now SWNAF is able to reach more students at different levels of education.
