Approximately 2,500 language communities have some or all of the Bible. That leaves over 4,000 languages without access to God's Word unless someone steps in and changes history. Please consider a contribution to The Word For The World! Become part of the vision to bring God's Word to all people.
Testimonials
When the Makua speaking people of Tanzania received the New Testament in their heart language for the first time in 2016, they considered it a joyous blessing. Hearing God's Word speaking to them in a language they intuitively understand helped them believe God loves them and is for them.
Having the sacred Scriptures accessible to them, even Muslims begin to turn to Christ! One Muslim woman, Halima Abdul, now has become a Christian and follows Jesus' teachings because of the New Testament in the Makua language. She studies the Word of God in church and says, 'I see other Muslims being saved! Seeing the power of Christ motivates me to love Jesus even more!'
One local community found that when the people read the Gospel of John, they started to give their lives to Jesus! A local pastor, Zakayo from Nakopi Village, says, 'My wife and I experience the goodness of God in our church. Our entire community recognizes the significance of having Bible translation for the Makua people. All Makua speaking communities supports this effort.'
Another local pastor, Gideon Kitengele, from Napach Makua Village in Tanzania said, 'I can see the importance of serving God in the Makua language. People best understand the words, and God can impact their hearts because they comprehend him speaking the local Makua language. I didn't expect God to move in my village-especially to all the Makua people!'
Still another clergyman, Pastor George, sees the purpose of God through the Makua translation of the New Testament as people turn to Jesus throughout his village. The words of the Bible are penetrating the hearts and minds of the people and the fabric of society. Pastor George says, 'One of our Chief leaders and a small group started to read the Makua Bible every Saturday and Sunday. The group has grown from 5 to 21 people! The Makua people have begun to write their own songs, and worship God in their own language.' After reading Scripture together in their heart language, the Chief and his small group began to share it with family members fulfilling the words of Jesus, 'But Jesus said, "No, go home to your family, and tell them everything the Lord has done for you and how merciful he has been."' (Mark 5:19).
The Bible in the Makua Language is bringing hope and the message of Jesus to many Makua speaking people in Tanzania. Having the word in their heart languages has brought joy to their lives and has changed hearts and minds of all the people. The Makua people are eagerly awaiting the whole Bible in their heart language.
