As we celebrate Thorne Nature Experience's remarkable 70th year, we want to express our heartfelt gratitude for your family's participation in our programs. Your support has been crucial in making 2024 a year of growth, adventure, and meaningful connections with nature for so many children.
2024 marked a significant year for Thorne:
- Through our NATURE FOR ALL initiative, we awarded more than $312,000 in scholarships, meaning 1 in 4 Thorne campers received a scholarship.
- We opened our new home, the Lafayette Nature Center, allowing us to expand our reach and provide even more opportunities for children to explore and learn about the natural world.
- Our Summer Camp program offered over 100 camp experiences across Boulder County, serving more than 1,100 campers, and we launched the Outdoor Leadership in Training (OLIT) program for youth ages 12-15, fostering the next generation of environmental stewards and mentors.
- Thorne Nature Preschool completed its first full season at the Lafayette Nature Center, serving over 120 children during the summer and school year sessions.
- The Nature Kids/Jovenes de la Naturaleza program began laying the groundwork for expansion into Longmont.

Testimonials
"Thorne has been an amazing experience for our kids. The quality of care and quantity of fun has not been diminished because of COVID. The kids come home happy, tired and played out and looking forward to the next day. We're looking forward to next summer already!"
- Summer Camp Parent
"What a wonderful opportunity Thorne has been to break free of quarantine! To let (Luke) wiggle and giggle and be collaborative with nature. He's had fun making friends and being social again. He understands the way he can be creative with using nature in his own life every day...things we haven't been able to do in months! This has been an awesome experience."

- Noah, Age 6 and 11/12ths
"The instructor engaged the students in every way. Students learned vocabulary and concepts by being actively involved. Students incorporated the learning into their play at recess- that is how exciting the instructor made learning!"
