Twice Purrfect Feline Rescue works with out-of-state municipal shelters in under-served areas to save cats who are in eminent danger of euthanasia due to an environment which leaves many at risk cats (pregnant or nursing moms, kittens too young to be weaned, older cats) without other options for survival. We transport these cats to Colorado and place them in loving foster homes where they can get the care and one-on-one attention they need to grow, become healthy and thrive. All animals are spay/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and tested for FIV/FeLV as part of our belief in responsible pet-ownership practices, and through an in-depth adoption program we then work to match each cats personality to a purrfect forever home which gives them the love and stability to live a long life indoors.
Twice Purrfect consists of 100% volunteer fosters who house our cats and treat them like their own. It is our goal to make the transition from shelter to forever home as smooth as possible for both the cat and their new family.
Our program, which includes life-saving medical care and rehabilitation in some cases, is only possible through donations from people like YOU!! People who believe second chances at a happy life do exist, and who are there to support us and make it happen even if it's a few lives at a time.
Local Outreach: We work with a few local individuals and provide food and resources towards Trap-Neuter-Return [https://www.nokillcolorado.org/tnr] programs for cats around Denver and Aurora; in the cases where a cat may be young or be an indoor cat who found themselves outside, we can step in and provide foster homes, socialization, and eventual adoption for some cats.
Operation Save Baby Matilda!!
Greta found herself undernourished, pregnant and in an overcrowded shelter where she gave birth to kittens in a dark cage alone. Her only surviving kitten was Matilda who (when transported to Colorado with her mom) weighed < 500 grams - less than 1/4 of what she should have weighed at her age - and without the energy to eat on her own. After round the clock care and feeding and vet trips for both mom and kitten, it was determined that both had FIP, which up until more recently was a death sentence for most cats. By working with life-saving groups, we were able to get a special compounded medication which has shown an almost 90% cure rate, and little Matilda now weighs close to 1 kilogram at a few weeks in. She still has a long road to go (12 weeks of daily treatment) and many more vet visits to get through, but donations can help us to ensure she (and future cats like her) has all the care she needs.
