Help Urban Peak Give Every Young Person the Stability, Support and Care They Deserve

Challenges We Face

Youth and young adults account for a significant portion of those experiencing homelessness in the Denver region. Among these young people, certain groups are especially at risk. Youth without a high school diploma or GED face a 346% higher risk of homelessness, while unmarried, parenting youth have a 200% increased risk. For those earning under $24,000 annually, the risk rises by 162%. These statistics underscore the urgent need for targeted, compassionate support to help young people find stability and opportunity.

Innovative Solution

Urban Peak is the only organization in Denver dedicated to comprehensive services for youth aged 12-24 experiencing homelessness. For over 35 years, we’ve provided safe shelter, stable housing, healthcare, education, employment support, and case management.

In 2024, we achieved a major milestone with the opening of The Mothership, our new campus that unites all our services under one roof, offering young people the support they need to exit homelessness.

Impact

Urban Peak youth make incredible and lasting progress on their path to independence each year. In 2023:

  • Youth worked with Urban Peak case managers for over 7,900 hours to develop individualized plans and goals.
  • 89% of youth exiting Urban Peak housing successfully transitioned to a stable environment.
  • 88% of youth made progress toward or achieved their education goal.
  • 70% of youth reported good to excellent general health.

Your compassionate support enables youth to access essential services—housing, healthcare, education, and job training—that lay the groundwork for lasting independence. These resources help break the cycle of homelessness and offer young people a chance at a brighter future.

Your support ignites the potential in youth to exit homelessness.

Mission

Urban Peak ignites the potential in youth to exit homelessness and create self-determined, fulfilled lives.

Our vision is that all Colorado youth have safe housing, supportive relationships and the opportunity for self-sufficiency and success.

Background Statement

Urban Peak is Denver’s only nonprofit offering a full convergence of services designed to help youth experiencing homelessness.

Founded over 35 years ago, Urban Peak began as a daytime drop-in center, quickly expanding to include temporary overnight shelter for young people experiencing homelessness. In 1998, Urban Peak opened Colorado’s first and only licensed youth shelter. As needs grew, the shelter faced overcrowding and required modernization.

In 2024, Urban Peak proudly opened its new campus, The Mothership, remaining steadfast in its belief that ending youth homelessness changes trajectories, saves lives and creates lasting community impact. As the only organization in Denver to offer a complete range of services to youth ages 12 to 24; including shelter, housing, medical and behavioral health care, educational and employment support, case management, and more; Urban Peak is committed to helping young people find stability, resilience and hope.
