Our gentle terrain, low cost, and 15km pf dog-friendly trails along the eastern side of Vallecito Reservoir provide a unique opportunity for families and people of all skill levels in enjoy Nordic skiing. Donations and memberships are requested, but not required.
We partner with the Columbine Ranger District of the San Juian National Forest, the Pine River Irrigation District (PRID) and US Bureau of Reclamation to provide this wonderful recreational opportunity to our community.
Note that the Pine River Irrigation district requires a land use fee which can be paid on a daily or annual basis . None of those fees directly support our all volunteer grooming efforts.
Our mission is to provide beautifully groomed Nordic ski trails and a snowshoe trail next to Vallecito Reservoir to the people of SW Colorado at low or no cost. We welcome well behaved dogs under their owner's control;, but not motorized or wheeled vehicles.
At Vallecito Nordic you will find approximately 15km of nordic trails groomed for classic and skate skiing along the beautiful shores of Vallecito Reservoir! All of our grooming work is done by our superb volunteers and your financial contributions through your membership and donations (online or at the trail head) make it all possible!
Vallecito Nordic Ski Club is a registered 501C charitable organization. We collaborate with and operate under permits from the US Forest Service, the Pine River Irrigation District (PRID) on behalf of the US Bureau of Reclamation.
Ski trails are groomed for only nordic skiing and a separate snowshoe trail, starting just below Old Timers campground (our trailhead). No motorized vehicles are allowed (except for access to private property). We do not welcome Fat tire snow bikes, etc.. Fortunately there are countless other places to recreate on a fat bike or snow mobile.
