Western Border Collie Rescue is a 501c3 non-profit, all-volunteer organization that works hard to place adoptable dogs into appropriate forever homes, making the best match possible between the dog and the adopter(s). We also strive to educate the public on the characteristics and needs of Border Collies.

Giving Activity

Mission

Our Mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome Border Collies and Border Collie mixes that have been abandoned, neglected, or are no longer able to remain in their current home from all around the Rocky Mountain region.

Background Statement

In March of 2003, our director sat at her dining room table with a few friends discussing the plight of unwanted Border Collies in need near where they lived in Wyoming. Overbred by a few and misunderstood by many, Border Collies were sitting in nearly every shelter in the state. The vast majority of these dogs were young, healthy dogs that landed in the shelter not because they were "bad" dogs- only inconvenient or misunderstood by their owners. Deciding to jump in with both feet and a whole lot of heart, Wyoming Border Collie Rescue was formed. It was later renamed Western Border Collie Rescue due to the growing reach outside of just Wyoming. We now have foster homes and adopters in all states immediately surrounding Colorado and Wyoming.
