Testimonials

Healing Results
"The training was amazing & even more powerful than I'd expected. One lady said in her comments afterwards that she received more healing in those three days than she has in the 40+ years she's been coming to our organization. As long as I've known her, she's been a very challenging & angry person. She had an amazing change & couldn't say enough good about the process that she went through. Another guy has drank for 40 years. He just stopped in yesterday & reported he is now on his 9th day of sobriety."

The Seeds of Healing
"Thank you for continuing to carry the torch. The seeds of healing and recovery that White Bison has planted and nurtured will continue to touch lives for generations. It truly is the gift of life for many and I have just witnessed a small part of that by what we are sharing here in Texas. Much Love and Respect to you."

Mission

We are a Native American operated 501(c)3 nonprofit company dedicated to creating and sustaining a grassroots Wellbriety Movement that provides culturally based healing to the next seven generations of Indigenous People.

Background Statement

White Bison is an American Indian/Alaska Native non-profit organization headquartered in Colorado Springs, CO, though it provides programs throughout the United States and Canada. White Bison's mission is "Creating and sustaining a grassroots Wellbriety Movement that provides culturally based healing to the next seven generations of Indigenous People."

White Bison is a proud facilitator of the Wellbriety Movement. Wellbriety means to go beyond sobriety and live a life that is balanced physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. The "Well" part of Wellbriety means to live the healthy parts of the principles, laws and values of traditional culture. It means to heal from dysfunctional behaviors other than chemical dependency, as well as chemical dependency itself. This includes co-dependency, ACOA behavior, domestic or family violence, gambling, and other shortcomings of character.

The programs are developed and trained by Native Americans who themselves, have experienced the challenges of healing. The purpose of these efforts through the Wellbriety Movement is to foster sober and healthy lifeways that are balanced emotionally, mentally, physically and spiritually, and promote healing of people using cultural approaches. What makes our programs sustainable is the power of volunteers who are committed to healing themselves and others. They are the Wellbriety Movement and their efforts have powered that Movement for over 30 years.

Donations from supporters and grant awards are used to amplify our ability to reach more communities at little or no cost to the community. Some examples of those efforts include:

 Providing trainings at no charge to local communities

 Providing inexpensive ways to replicate trainings and training materials at the local level

 Supported the development of circles of recovery at the local level

 "Give away" of culturally related recovery resources to Native people in prisons

 In 2018-19 training will be provided to 9 communities (at no cost to the community) to help them address the after-effects of homicide using self-help circles
