The Becky Baker Foundation

A nonprofit organization

We operate the only store in the country that provides free shopping for any family affected by breast cancer. Our 4,000 square foot store, in the Pueblo Mall, maintains at least $500,000 of brand new product that is free for all Southern Colorado families affected by breast cancer. All staff at the store are volunteers.

In 2024, the store served over 1,200 local families and gave away over $1.7 million in new merchandise.

Mission

We want to change the national conversation around breast cancer from awareness to prevention. To do this we provide free education on nutrition, stress, environment and relationship facts that can all lead to a breast cancer diagnosis.

The Needs of Those Affected By Breast Cancer

A breast cancer diagnosis is very expensive, even with quality health insurance. For the underinsured or uninsured, a diagnosis can devastate the family. As a result, many families go without simple necessities such as clothing, shoes, household items, personal care products, or baby and children items.

The Becky Baker Foundation has partnered with The United Breast Cancer Foundation to help meet the needs of these families by holding Free Shopping Weekends. These families are able to shop for the above items and hundreds of others, all free to the family.

Background Statement

Becky Baker was diagnosed with stage IV, metastatic breast cancer and given three months to live on December 17, 2013. She refused the doctor's death sentence and embarked on a journey to beat this evil disease. Becky created LAFF2LIVE, an acronym for Lifestyle, Attitude, Food and Faith. She committed her being to living out these four principles and lived four years beyond what any doctor thought was possible. She passed away on Easter Sunday morning, 2017.

One of the last things Becky told her husband was, "I am just sorry that no one will ever remember my name. Her husband promised that "no one will ever forget your name," and launched The Becky Baker Foundation in May of 2017.

Her husband began giving away mammograms to any woman who could not afford the screening. He traveled the country in his GTR supercar that was wrapped publicizing his mission and soon requests starting coming in. Since May of 2017, The Becky Baker Foundation has given away countess mammograms to underinsured or uninsured women, and some men. The Foundation was granted 501(C)(3) IRS non-profit charity status on December 19, 2019.

In April of 2024, the Foundation partnered with The United Breast Cancer Foundation and opened the only store of its kind in the US, where any family affected by breast cancer can come and shop and all merchandise is always free. Over $500,000 in brand new products are free for these families.

In 2024, the Becky Baker Foundaton store served over 1,200 families and gave away over $1.7 million in merchandise.
