Background Statement
This year marks Dental Lifeline Network's 50th Anniversary of restoring the oral health and well-being of our most vulnerable neighbors by providing them with access to crucial comprehensive dental care services.
In partnership with the Colorado Dental Association, Dental Lifeline Network founded its flagship program, Donated Dental Services (DDS), in 1985 to help disabled, elderly, or medically at-risk Coloradans who are not able to afford nor otherwise access crucial dental treatment.
Our network of 665 Colorado dentists and 129 dental labs each generously volunteer to provide treatment for one or two needy individuals each year. Our patients have often struggled for years with painful oral infections, broken and decayed teeth, and difficulty with eating or smiling. On average each patient receives $5,000 in care, illustrating the depth of their need, but also the insurmountable financial challenge this care represents.
Today, DDS helps people in all 50 states and the District of Columbia access dental treatment that would otherwise be out of reach. Since its inception, DDS has helped over 168,000 people access $555 million in dental treatment donated by a national network of 12,357 volunteer dentists and 3,330 dental labs.
Your Colorado Gives Day donation will specifically support our efforts in Colorado, where we expect to help more than 400 people this year access $1.25 million in life-changing treatment. Thank you!
