The mission of the Denver Police Foundation is to act as an independent and unique funding and advocacy resource for the Denver Police Department to enhance public safety and law enforcement in the Denver Community.
After the tragedy of September 11, it became apparent to business leaders that there should be support for the Denver Police Department beyond what was available from the city budget. Thus, the Denver Police Foundation was established to meet these needs. It was reestablished as a new entity in 2009 and addresses needs of the Denver Police Department that go beyond the capacity of the City and County of Denver general budget. Modeled after similar foundations in New York City and Los Angeles, we are a Colorado nonprofit, charitable organization created to enhance public safety and law enforcement in the Denver community. It is not designed to meet general operations of the Denver Police Department. The DPF serves as a liaison with the business community, citizens and the Denver Police Department and raises funds to provide support for training and equipment beyond the general police budget, all aimed at crime prevention, officer support, and community safety.
