To provide Coloradans with access to affordable legal services for environmental and animal issues in addition to protecting wildlife and their habitats through enforcement of the law.
Our organization was founded on a confluence of passions, a passion to protect the natural word and a passion for justice. Ultimately, the idea to create our organization came from an actual person in legal need. We became aware of an individual in desperate need to protect their animal when they posted online looking for help. That person was impoverished, couldn’t afford an attorney, wasn’t entitled to free legal representation, and couldn’t get a lawyer to provide pro bono assistance. We offered pro bono assistance, and, with barely any involvement, were able to secure a positive outcome for someone who had no other options. That outcome protected the life of an animal. While we knew about the need to protect animals and the environment at the macro level, the need to protect animals at micro level was not obvious until it was witnessed. Since 2017, Environmental and Animal Defense has represented indigent clients and national organizations on issues both big and small. We exist to represent clients and issues others lawyers or organizations can’t or won’t.
