Background Statement
In 1970, citizens stepped forward to create Historic Denver, which first focused on saving the Molly Brown House Museum from demolition and then went on to citywide efforts. Historic Denver remains the city's leading preservation organization and, as a private, supporter-driven non-profit, we work to protect and promote the places that add to our quality of life, spur economic development and engender pride of place.
Our preservation advocacy work seeks to find economically viable and community-centered solutions to the issues that arise in the places where growth and preservation meet. We bring ideas, contacts and resources to the table based on our decades of experience in preservation.
The Molly Brown House Museum works to interpret the legacy of the philanthropist, activist, and Titanic survivor, including the many causes she championed which remain hugely relevant today, such as the right to vote and employee rights.
