Where does your money go?
With a small staff of two employees, JLD is a largely volunteer-run organization where donations have a direct impact on the number of people served by our community programs.
$100 provides snacks for 20 kids at a Read2Kids event.
$250 buys arts and crafts supplies for 450 kids at a Read2Kids event.
$500 supplies meals for 20 families attending a Kids Connect program night.
$1,000 provides lunch, a snack, and milk to 150 people at The Gathering Place.
$2,500 funds our Done in a Day program for one year, providing 4,000+ volunteer hours to nonprofits across the Denver metro area.
$5,000 distributes 2,000 books to low-income children at our Read2Kids events.
$10,000 sends supplies and hundreds of volunteers to our L.U.V.S. day of service, benefiting up to 10 community partners.

The Junior League of Denver, Inc. (founded in 1918), is an organization of women whose Mission is to advance women’s leadership for meaningful community impact through volunteer action, collaboration, and training.
Current Community Focus: League members are working to disrupt the cycle of systemic poverty for women and families in Denver.
The Junior League of Denver (JLD) was founded in 1918 on the principle that women can come together in the spirit of volunteerism to improve the quality of life in our community. Today, JLD welcomes women of all races, religions and national origins who value the Mission. Since its founding, JLD started, and aided in starting, many well-known Denver institutions including Children's Museum of Denver, Mile High Transplant Bank, the Red Rocks concerts and many others.
Since 2012, the JLD's work was focused on improving literacy rates and providing access to books for children through the third grade in the Denver metro area. For nearly a decade, JLD's programs reached thousands of children and families through signature League programs like Kids Connect and Read2Kids, as well as key partnerships like serving as a sponsor for One Book Colorado and working with Reading Partners Colorado.
As a part of JLD's Strategic Plan, and at the direction of the Board of Directors, the Future Focus Special Committee began meeting in July 2019 to explore expanding its impact area to meet the dynamically changing needs of our community. As a result, the Junior League of Denver is now working to disrupt the cycle of systemic poverty for women and families in Denver.
This work builds on the continued success of JLD's literacy efforts by helping engage in adjacent areas like homelessness, education, health and food security. The expansion allows us to intentionally incorporate diversity, equity and inclusion into our work so we can meaningfully partner with our community and co-design solutions. We know that when all women feel connected and included in our Mission, our ability to improve our community will increase exponentially and will help us continue our long history of meeting our community's greatest needs.
