Background Statement
OUR MISSION AND VISION
The Lakewood Symphony Orchestra (LSO) is dedicated to enriching the greater Lakewood community by presenting exceptional live orchestral performances. As Lakewood’s premier symphony, we bring inspiring music to audiences of all ages through a diverse concert lineup and engaging community programs.
OUR CONCERT SEASON
Each season, LSO offers a carefully curated series of concerts spanning nine months. Our 2024-25 season features five subscription concerts, including a vibrant pops program, collaborations with major soloists, and a delightful family concert. Our season also highlights our annual Young Artists Concerto Competition, a celebrated event showcasing young musical talents.
OUR STORY
Founded in 1977 as the Rocky Mountain Symphony, LSO began as an ensemble of local musicians performing for friends and family. As Lakewood grew, so did our vision. In 2003, we moved to the Lakewood Cultural Center—a top-tier performing arts venue—marking our transformation into a true community orchestra committed to artistic excellence.
Since then, LSO has flourished, welcoming highly skilled musicians and attracting enthusiastic audiences from across the region. Today, we’re proud to be recognized as Lakewood’s leading symphony orchestra, with performances that engage, inspire, and elevate our community.
JOIN US AND SUPPORT OUR FUTURE
By supporting LSO on Colorado Gives Day, you help sustain high-quality orchestral music in Lakewood. Together, we can continue bringing the joy of live music to our community for years to come.
