Testimonials

From clients who were helped by Mercy's Gate:

In the last 6 months, my husband was physically injured and unable to work for four months. My employer recently reduced my hours to avoid layoffs. With all these things in such a short period of time, we almost lost our home, our vehicles, and services such as electricity and gas shut off. Thanks to the help of Mercy's Gate we avoided a service interruption and were truly grateful and blessed to have had your help. We also received food from the pantry which was a big help. Thank you.

I'm a single mother of three. Since my divorce, I have struggled with paying my bills. I was a stay-at-home mother for 12 years. Today Mercy's Gate helped me with my past due bill from the utility company. The weight of the world is off my shoulders. I'm so thankful. I've prayed and prayed for an end to my sorrow. Today I feel blessed.

Thank you so much for your help with my utility bill. I am so thankful for your ministry. I attend a local church and we support Mercy's Gate. I never thought I would need your services, but so thankful that God has provided for me through you. I especially want to thank the volunteers for their understanding and kindness and for praying for me and my situation. I could truly see that these volunteers love the Lord. Also, thank you for the food I received. I pray that God will bless you for your sacrifices and service to Him.

Mission

For people in crisis, we offer relief, the hope of the Gospel and a vision for restoration.

Background Statement

For 40 years, Mercy's Gate has served El Paso County through its emergency crisis support program. Mercy's Gate is dedicated to improving the lives of low-income families, the working poor, and those who experience an unexpected calamity by helping them move from crisis to hope and restoration. Mercy's Gate is a faith-based, non-profit human services agency.

Mercy's Gate's mission is to love our neighbors in El Paso Country by helping them with their financial, physical, emotional, and spiritual, relationships, education, and career. Our purpose is to understand and serve the needs of our community through direct services, food pantry, prayer, and connecting people in need with a caring community.

Mercy's Gate, formerly Northern Churches Care, was founded in 1982 by a group of churches that envisioned working cooperatively to provide emergency food and financial services. Today, Mercy's Gate is supported by individuals, organizations, foundations, and churches with the primary goal to stabilize our neighbors in crisis to avoid the downward spiral of homelessness and poverty.
