Testimonials

I truly don't know where my son would be had he not gone to Seeds of Learning. When he was assessed and had an IEP I was mortified. The director and staff were great in calming me down. He continued to grow and learn and when he graduated from Seeds we were so sad. We didn't want to leave!

Seeds of Learning is by far the BEST early childhood education program in Pagosa Springs! We love the teachers, they're the most kind and loving teachers we've ever met.

My kids went to Seeds of Learning after dealing with a lot of issues at home. When they started at Seeds they were functioning with low social skills. When they left Seeds to go to Kindergarten I know that they not only had the skills to make good choices but problem solve in a productive way.

The first parent teacher conference I had for my child in kindergarten after leaving Seeds of Learning was wonderful! I was informed that my daughter was already at the level of knowledge they expected the kindergarten students to have at the end of the year. I owe it all to Seeds of Learning and their wonderful staff!

Mission

Background Statement

In 1996, a survey conducted by Operation Healthy Communities identified the number one need in Archuleta County as early care and education. A group of concerned citizens began meeting in 1997. This group identified a lack of early care and education for parents needing to work, teen mothers wanting to continue their education along with a lack of educational and recreational activities for families with young children. As a result of the efforts of this initial group, the concept of a family center was envisioned. In February 1998, Seeds of Learning opened at the Community United Methodist Church caring for 8 infants. The following year, the Town of Pagosa Springs offered the center the use of a vacated medical clinic building. This larger facility allowed Seeds to expand care to toddlers in January of 1999 and additionally to preschoolers in September of 1999. Today, the center serves 72 toddlers and preschoolers, 50 daily, in a 5000 square feet facility located at 575 South 7th Street. In August of 2011 Seeds of Learning became NAEYC accredited, an accomplishment less than 10% of America's early care and education centers achieve. The center recently went through the renewal accreditation process and will know the results in 4-6 weeks. In January 2014 Seeds was selected as 2013 Non-Profit of the Year by the Pagosa Springs Chamber of Commerce.
