Background Statement

On April 12, 1995, lifelong Colorado residents Roger and Dawn Mohatt had a baby girl named Allyson Marie. Two months past her first birthday, Allyson was diagnosed with Nemaline Myopathy, a rare form of Muscular Dystrophy. After Allyson underwent a litany of tests, Roger and Dawn were told by numerous doctors that the cause of the disease was likely not recessive and that their future children should be healthy. Unfortunately, that was not the case. On April 8, 1999, Rachel Anne Mohatt was born and was shortly thereafter diagnosed with the same devastating disease that had afflicted her older sister. Allyson died October 18, 2000. Rachel died June 9, 2004. Both girls lived to age five.

During the years their daughters were alive; Roger and Dawn spent untold hours and took exhaustive measures to ensure that Allyson and Rachel lived happy, comfortable and fun lives. Although there were frequent hospital stays, both girls were happy and funny, both had lively and active minds, and both loved school and playing games. It goes without saying that their passing was devastating to Roger and Dawn. Yet, while the months and years following the deaths of their daughters have been emotionally trying, both Roger and Dawn have come to the realization that they want to channel the energy they previously spent on their daughters toward helping other children with physical disabilities live active, fun and happy lives. With that notion in mind, the Mohatts formed the Two Angels Foundation in 2005 in honor of their daughters.

The Two Angels Foundation is an all volunteer organization that was formed as a 501(c) (3) entity in 2005. To date, Two Angels Foundation funded over 770 gifts totaling over $1,192,000. Every year we hold at least three fundraising events, they include:
