Testimonials

I'd like to thank the Two Mile High Club for all you do for the donkeys! My son is disabled and in a wheelchair, and during the 3 month shutdown, taking the drive from Woodland Park to see the donkeys, and spoiling them with apples and carrots, was a weekly outing for us! The ramp and deck are perfect for a wheelchair person, and we greatly appreciate the time and money spent to keep it in good shape!

Background Statement

The donkeys in Cripple Creek were released from the mines in the early 1900s and were left to fend for themselves in the wild . The Miles High Club was formed in 1931 to market an event to bring people to Cripple Creek to create awareness of the donkeys and stimulate the depression era economy. In addition, the Donkey Derby Days event was born and was the major fundraising event to support the care, feeding, and shelter needs of the donkeys. In the '60s, the name of the organization was changed to the Two Mile High Club as the elevation in Cripple Creek is approximately 10,000 feet above sea level. Today, Donkey Derby Days is the most popular summer event in Teller County. All proceeds from the event go directly to the welfare of the feral donkey herd.
