$11,000 Goal

WillStrong Cancer Foundation was founded in 2020 to honor one teenager's (Will) wish to make a difference in the world by helping other young cancer fighters like him have a fighting chance to survive their cancer diagnosis.  Will was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia at the age of 14 and who then lost his life to the disease 14 months later at the age of 15.

WillStrong seeks to make a difference and to honor Will's wish by funding much-needed research to advance more effective and precise treatments to young cancer patients.  We have already funded more than $320,000 in specific support of research (equipment, clinical trials and support of the biobank at Children's Colorado and have recently pledged another $300,000 to establish the WillStrong Cancer Foundation Scholar fund at Children's to bring a data scientist on board to directly support research of acute blood cancer.

WillStrong is also developing a program to provide financial and psychosocial support to adolescents and young adults (AYA) with cancer.  The AYA population has a unique need for support and are often underserved - something we noticed while Will was in treatment - and we are working with the wellness team at Children's to identify best ways to fill the gaps.  Stay tuned for more details as we work to fine-tune how we can assist.

WillStrong is dedicated to providing direct funding of research and support and has very little overhead so donations make a big impact right away.

We invite you to become part of our mission and make a difference for young cancer patients in memory of Will and others like him, who deserved their own fighting chance to survive.  We are stronger together and #WillStrong for a Cure!

Giving Activity

Mission

We provide financial support for research to advance treatment options for kids, teens and young adults diagnosed with cancer.

Background Statement

WillStrong funds research to bring more targeted and precise treatments to kids, teens and young adults diagnosed with cancer. We strive to make a difference for young cancer patients so they may not only survive their diagnosis but THRIVE after treatment!

Childhood cancer research funding is scarce and researchers rely on foundations like WillStrong to fill funding gaps. We will continue to provide funding as well as other support to researchers and young cancer patients to honor Will Maniatis' wish to make a difference for kids who, like him, don't have many targeted options to treat their cancer.
