$3,000 Goal

We believe that every child needs a hug especially when life has become hard for them and they need something soft to cling to.

Testimonials

These children deserve compassionate health care. They need love to restore their young bodies and minds. Many times, it is the little things in life that make all the difference…like being able to hold tightly to a soft, stuffed animal in an environment that is anything but soft. Nurses and doctors have shared the importance of new stuffed animals for children as they provide compassionate health care. They use these stuffed animals to show children where they will receive a shot, the placement of a cast, where a cancer catheter/port will be placed or to ask where their tummy hurts, etc. We have been told that it is a blessing to have these wonderful cuddly tools.

Mission

Our mission is to provide new stuffed animals to children who have experienced a life-threatening illness, traumatic event or who are at risk.

Background Statement

Hugaroo was founded to honor Morgan Harper who died at 17 from a rare cancer named Rhabdomysarcoma. Her younger sister, Jenna, after observing the comfort Morgan experienced from a new stuffed animal in the hospital, modeled a program of giving new stuffed animals to hospitalized children and won a Girl Scout Gold Award for her efforts. In 2007, the Harper Family founded the nonprofit Hugaroo to continue the program. Hugaroo has expanded to 6 states and continues to grow quickly.
