Karl Van Etten Legacy Scholarship

The Aurora Fitzsimons Rotary Club and Denver Northeast Rotary Club are partnering to raise money for the Karl Van Etten Legacy Scholarship at the Community College of Aurora. This scholarship supports students studying Business at CCA, which is where Karl taught in the Business Department. Launching this scholarship in 2024, we are currently supporting one student at the Community College of Aurora. Each club has pledged $5,000 to match the first $10,000 donated to this scholarship. Karl was a sort of Renaissance man: he wore many hats from that of a military man and competitive athlete, to a thespian who performed in international stage productions. He was a life-long learner (alongside his wife, Anne) earning his Teaching Certificate, MBA, and EDD from multiple institutions over the years. Ultimately a teacher at heart, Karl and his family landed in Aurora in 1986 where he returned to teaching at the Community College of Aurora. He taught business courses and served as Dean of Instruction, as well as participated in the Citizens’ Advisory Budget Committee of the City of Aurora, that earned him an “Amazing Auroran” honor. Karl cared deeply for his communities, and was a member of both the Aurora Fitzsimons and Denver Northeast Rotary Clubs.
