In honor of our 35th Anniversary, Habitat invites you to participate in a special monthly Giving Campaign. During 2024, Habitat is looking for 35 donors to commit $35 a month for 12 months. The purpose of this campaign is to raise awareness around the transformational impacts of Habitat homeownership on the lives of our families.

A common misconception about Habitat is that we give away homes. This is not true. Habitat partners with hardworking families who face significant safety or space issues and are unable to qualify for financing on the open market. These families make between 30-60% of the Area Median Income. For a family of 4 living in Boulder County, they earn between $35,000-$78,000.

By partnering with St. Vrain Habitat, families are able to achieve strength, stability, and self-reliance. These families complete 250-500 hours of sweat equity and attend educational courses prior to moving into their new home. They pay an affordable mortgage that is never more than 30% of their total income.

According to a survey conducted by Habitat Colorado in 2021, Habitat homeowners report the following benefits of owning an affordable home:

GREATER SENSE OF WELL-BEING: 92% of Habitat homeowners report improvements in their household's quality of life.

IMPROVED HEALTH: 91% of Habitat homeowners experience better mental health. Over 90% have observed improvements in their family's physical health.

SAFER NEIGHBORHOODS: 95% of Habitat homeowners report they could not have owned a home without help from Habitat. Most were living in sub-par conditions and many were living in unsafe neighborhoods. Habitat homeowners on average are more active in their communities. Many serve in their Homeowner Associations.

INCREASED SAVINGS: 81% of Habitat homeowners felt much more financially secure. Part of Habitat's program involves budgeting and finance courses to prepare future homeowners.

IMPROVED EDUCATIONAL OUTCOMES: 98% of Habitat homeowners observed a stable, positive impact on their children's educational performance. Many homeowners are also able to pursue higher education and technical training for employment advancement due to the stability of a Habitat home.

REDUCED NEED FOR ASSISTANCE: Homeowners report significantly less use of public assistance. It is estimated that the reduction of public assistance has led to substantial taxpayer savings annually of $793,935.

Habitat homeownership is transformational. For $35 a month, YOU can help more families thrive and communities flourish. When you partner with Habitat, you invest in families and the future!
