By funding critical initiatives and direct-to-classroom grantmaking, DPS Foundation has and will always put Students First. Students across Denver, and the country, face so many challenges. Access to whole-child and whole-family supports, empowered and resourced educators, and engaging learning opportunities should not be one of those challenges. Make a donation to DPS Foundation and together we can help all learners overcome any roadblocks to success they may face.
Here are just a few classroom needs and how DPS Foundation helps, thanks to donors like you:
- Unfortunately many children in Denver, particularly students living in low-opportunity neighborhoods, don't have access to high-quality afterschool programs. Afterschool programs can support social, emotional, and academic development. This past year, DPS Foundation supported afterschool programs at 17 DPS schools, which takes the burden off the shoulders of families and allows opportunities for enriching activities!
- More than 60% of DPS students qualifying for free and reduced lunch, and we know that life outside the classroom impacts learning and success inside the classroom. Last year, we were able to direct $160,000 in support to DPS' Community Hubs, providing wraparound services, including basic needs assistance, mental health support, GED classes and more to over 1,000 unique participants.
- Colorado consistently ranks amongst the lowest in the nation for per-pupil funding. All schools need additional resources to meet their learners' needs- but not all schools and communities have the capacity to fundraise from their students and families. DPS Foundation's A to Z Fund awarded over $300,000 to 145 schools this past year in direct-to-classroom grants to fund everything from field trips to special curriculum and more.
This Giving Season, I hope you'll make a gift to Denver Public Schools Foundation.
