We Are on Our Way!

Update posted 2 years ago

Snow and ice created a problem for a bit. We are now 48 miles into our journey.

I just turned 73. Best age I've ever been but also an age for serious reflection.  Training people for Soul Care with people on the margins is my life's work.  I've always enjoyed helping people discover the gift of being in relationship with those on the margins.

I'm walking seventy-three miles to raise money for the Restoring Connections Soul Care Scholarship Fund. Over the past thirty years this Soul Care Formation program has trained over 650 people from 6 continents to serve unsheltered people, justice-involved individuals, survivors of trafficking, refugees and migrants, youth at risk, terminally ill people, indigent people, abuse survivors, elderly homebound individuals and wounded veterans.  The scholarship fund ensures that everyone called to this ministry is able to participate.

In the past few years, in Restoring Connections' commitment to systemic change, we have been welcoming formerly justice-involved women into the program.  They have further enriched the learning process and now provide soul care with unsheltered people and youth in need.

My dog, Carter, is keeping me on track. When I first told him we would be walking 73 miles, he was skeptical.  No doubts about himself but not sure I had it in me.  He's ready to roll with your support.

Will you help us?  I'm hoping I can find 73 friends to donate $50 for a total of $3,650. Carter told me that I should ask 73 friends to donate $73 for a total of $5,329.  Will you convince Carter that walking with me will make a difference? Carter promises to keep you informed.
