This year my dear friend, Mark, and I will match your donation dollar-for-dollar up to $10,000 donated. We need your help to further the dreams of women like Lesley in the video, a hard working single mother, living in Colorado Springs, who is working toward a better life for herself, her children and her extended family with funding from CWEF.
Martin connects personally with CWEF's mission because I am passionate about giving women a chance to change their lives through education. My why is two fold, My mom did not have a college degree and it impacted her professional growth and advancement. And, through my career, I saw many examples of women who were unable to advance and achieve all they were capable of because they lacked a college degree or certificate. It saddens me that the gap still exists today. Additionally, women with Bachelor’s degrees earn 67% more than those with high school diplomas.
Mark is a Minnesota transplant who moved to Colorado in 1992 and retired in 2001. Mark's interest in helping support scholarships with CWEF is in memory of his wife, Jayne, who was in the first class of women firefighters for the city of Aurora. Mark believes women can be empowered to do anything in life, given the education.
