Summit Healing is a lifeline for individuals seeking recovery from addiction and co-occurring mental health disorders. Our sober living homes provide the critical structure, support, and community necessary for individuals to successfully transition from active addiction to stable, independent living. With the growing addiction crisis in the Denver Metro area and beyond, the demand for safe and supportive recovery environments far exceeds the available resources. Expanding Summit Healing’s capacity by opening more sober living houses is not just an investment in our organization, it is an investment in the lives of people who desperately need a second chance.
The reality is that recovery is a long and difficult journey, one that is often derailed when individuals do not have access to stable housing. Many people leaving treatment programs or detox facilities are thrust back into environments that are not conducive to recovery, places where old triggers, unhealthy relationships, and the stress of financial insecurity threaten their sobriety. This is where Summit Healing steps in, offering individuals a safe space to rebuild their lives without the immediate pressures of finding housing or securing employment. We allow people the time and support to focus on healing, establishing healthy routines, and building a foundation for lifelong recovery.
However, our current capacity is limited. At any given time, we have more individuals on our waiting list than we can accommodate, and every day, more people in need of recovery services are turned away. These are individuals at a critical juncture, without access to stable housing, their chances of relapse and returning to unhealthy behaviors increase dramatically. For many, this means a return to homelessness, incarceration, or worse. Expanding Summit Healing’s housing capacity by opening more sober living homes will directly address this urgent need. It will allow us to provide safe and structured living environments to more individuals, ensuring they have the time and resources necessary to build a sustainable recovery.
The impact of sober living homes extends far beyond the individuals who reside in them. When people recover from addiction, entire families and communities are healed. Our residents are not just clients, they are fathers, mothers, siblings, and friends. They are people with the potential to contribute to society, to hold jobs, support their families, and give back to their communities. By opening more sober living houses, Summit Healing will create more opportunities for people to reconnect with their loved ones, rebuild relationships, and reintegrate into society as productive, healthy citizens.
Furthermore, the economic impact of sober living homes cannot be overstated. Supporting recovery reduces the financial burden on emergency services, law enforcement, and healthcare systems. Individuals who successfully transition through sober living programs are far less likely to relapse or reoffend, significantly reducing the costs associated with addiction-related crime, hospitalization, and incarceration. By funding the expansion of Summit Healing’s housing program, donors would not only be supporting individuals in recovery but also contributing to a healthier, safer, and more stable community.
Our sober living model is designed to ensure long-term success. Residents live in a structured, communal setting where they are supported by peer specialists and house managers who understand the challenges of recovery firsthand. The community model promotes accountability, responsibility, and mutual support, fostering an environment where individuals are empowered to take control of their lives. With access to job readiness programs, mental health services, and life skills training, our residents leave Summit Healing equipped to sustain their sobriety and succeed independently.
What makes Summit Healing unique is our commitment to inclusivity and equity. Many of the individuals we serve come from marginalized communities, people of color, LGBTQ+ individuals, and justice-involved clients. These populations often face additional barriers to recovery, including systemic discrimination, limited access to healthcare, and financial instability. Our sober living homes are designed to be a safe and welcoming space for all individuals, regardless of their background. By expanding our housing capacity, we will be able to serve even more individuals from these underserved communities, ensuring that everyone has access to the support they need to recover.
