Update #4

Update posted 1 year ago

The animals are so incredibly grateful to you, even though they can't tell you directly!  So we'll do it for them - THANK YOU!  So far this year, 460 lucky pets have found their forever homes.

Don't you love seeing this happy smile on Aspen's face?  Not long ago, Aspen was a shy, scared pup who didn't trust anyone.  But thanks to you, he was able to come to an ARR foster home where he learned that the world doesn't have to be such a scary place.  Aspen's foster mom, Truc, spent months working with him patiently, and it paid off!

Aspen was adopted recently after a special adoption event where he met his new dad.  Joe is an ultra-marathon runner and takes Aspen running with him daily - the perfect life for a husky!  You can see from Aspen's happy face that life is good now, and it's all thanks to you.  Your support is the reason that dogs like Aspen get to come to ARR from overcrowded shelters and find their perfect homes.  We couldn't be happier for Aspen and hope you'll feel good knowing that you played an important part in saving his life.

It's true - shelters are in "crisis" mode right now.  The animals urgently need your support!  Staffing shortages and an influx of surrendered pets are creating a disastrous combination.  Animal Rescue of the Rockies is a foster-home based rescue, and our job is to pull pets from overcrowded shelters, place them in foster homes, and adopt them to loving forever homes.

Animal Rescue of the Rockies' primary focus is on saving "last chance" pets on euthanasia lists at overcrowded shelters in Colorado and in nearby states.  Over the last 19 years, over 10,000 lucky dogs and cats have been saved from euthanasia.

Your donation truly saves lives!Ace loves snuggling on the couch

Many pets in shelters suffer from treatable illnesses or injuries, and your gift will help us get them to safety where they can receive the veterinary care they so desperately need.  Shelters often don't have the resources available to help pets like this, so we step in to give them the second chance they deserve.

Ace arrived from a shelter and soon afterwards became very sick with parvo, a virus that can be fatal to puppies.  His foster mom recognized the symptoms, and Ace was fortunate enough to get the treatment he needed at a Denver veterinary emergency hospital.  His hospital bill was over $4,000, but his life was saved and he was soon adopted - by his foster family!

Little Bit is living the life of a princess now!Little Bit came to ARR from a shelter where she had been surrendered by her former owners with severe burns covering the right side of her little body.  Her burns had been left untreated for 2-3 years, causing her unimaginable pain and suffering.  After receiving veterinary treatment, she gradually healed and was adopted by ARR's founder and executive director, Karen Martiny and her husband, Vic.  She is living the high life now with her doggie sibling and 6 cats!

In addition to helping overcrowded shelters, ARR's dedicatedSnowberry is a lucky kitten rescued from outdoor life volunteers rescue hundreds of cats and kittens each year from life on the streets.  Outdoor community cats are trapped, vaccinated, spayed or neutered, and returned to their communities if they are unable to become indoor cats.  This prevents the cycle of new litters being born and ensures that adult cats enjoy more healthy lives outdoors.  Kittens and friendly adult cats are placed in foster care and socialized before they're adopted to loving homes.

Just recently ARR has rescued dogs with broken bones that needed surgical repair, heartworm positive dogs that are now undergoing treatment, and cats and kittens with upper respiratory infections or ringworm - all treatable conditions that can spell disaster for a pet in a shelter setting.
