Betty Rall was a geologist and educator who launched summer camp at Dino Ridge in 1994.

$340

raised by 4 people

Betty Rall was one of the most important people in the history of Friends of Dinosaur Ridge. Educator, major donor, interpretive sign visionary, long-time board member including Board President—Betty did so much. Another important legacy of Betty’s was helping to establish our summer camps.

One of her last acts of support for Dinosaur Ridge was to establish a fund to expand our summer camps, because they had reached such a high level of demand. Last year, in her name, the Betty Rall Summer Camp Fund raised almost $40,000 from individuals, including a $10,000 donation from her family. This has already attracted an additional $60,000 more in grant funding from local private foundations.

This summer camp fund has already allowed us to expand summer camp to serve 140 more kids per year, for a total of 440 now, and to allow for scholarships for more financially disadvantaged kids who want to spend a week in the summer learning about dinosaurs and paleontology!

Additionally with this expansion, Dinosaur Ridge Education Staff will have the opportunity to offer additional single-day camps on weekday holidays such as MLK Jr. Day, President’s Day and Memorial Day as well as continue camps during Spring (March) and Winter Break (December). Facility improvements at the Discovery Center will also allow Dinosaur Ridge to expand adult programs. [deleted text]

Your gift in memory of Betty will be placed into the Betty Rall Summer Camp Fund and help us serve more than 140 more kids! Thank you for helping to fund what was so dear to Betty, and what has made a difference for so many thousands of kids.
