Hi! I am Brittni, a trauma therapist at the Crisis Center. I am passionate about supporting the healing journey of both adults and children who have been impacted by domestic violence. Every dollar we raise on Colorado Gives Day, or any day for that matter, goes to help the adults and children that I serve. From working in children's residential treatment, a hospital for adults with eating disorders, doing in-home children's trauma therapy, to now my work as a trauma therapist in our domestic violence shelter, I have dedicated my life to supporting individuals with difficult life circumstances. Nothing fills my cup up more than to see my client's grow and thrive during our work together. The disheartening thing is, domestic violence is not rare. In fact, domestic violence impacts everyone, even if not directly or obvious.
Imagine living each day under the weight of fear and isolation, struggling in silence because you feel you have nowhere to turn. This is the reality for so many survivors of domestic violence—adults and children who are enduring physical, emotional, financial, and sexual abuse. 41% of women and 26% of men experience these life-altering traumas, and many are trapped, especially by financial abuse, which can make seeking help feel impossible.
At the Crisis Center, we are committed to changing this reality. Every day, we offer a lifeline, providing free, confidential services to those who have nowhere else to go. Without these free services, so many survivors would be left isolated and vulnerable.
Your compassion and generosity bring immediate hope to someone in need:
- $37 keeps our 24-hour crisis line open, so no call for help goes unheard
- $115 gives a survivor one month of legal advocacy to navigate the court process
- $128 provides a safe night of shelter to someone escaping violence
- $69 covers a therapy session that can begin the healing process
- $184 offers a month of community-based advocacy, empowering a survivor to rebuild
Every single gift makes an impact, no matter the size. Your support offers real hope, safety, and a path forward to people who might otherwise remain trapped.
In the words of a survivor:
“No one really talks about or acknowledges domestic violence in upper socio-economic demographics, but the impact is just as real and, in some ways, even harder to overcome. The Crisis Center helped me tremendously, but more importantly my son has improved as a result of the resources at the Crisis Center. It is one of the few places my challenges have been understood and supported because domestic violence usually only ends once someone dies.”
