Live

Cesar Chavez cared deeply for the lives of farmworkers, the rights of all people, and the future of the natural world. He united grassroots leaders and migrant workers in the cause for human rights and equity. So assured of his cause, he walked hundreds of miles and met with his community along the way, to demand lasting change. His legacy is as vibrant as ever and his work continues today in his foundation and with the efforts of the Cesar Chavez Celebration Committee of Mesa County.

Dr. Gilbert Santoscoy was a general surgeon who took great pride in training and mentoring others. He did so for over five decades with humility, grace, and humor. He was bilingual and took an abiding interest in the lives of the people around him, especially Latinx. The ease with which he connected to people enabled him to help thousands of people during his lifetime. Like Cesar Chavez, he led by example, empowered people, and ardently strove to make the world a better place.

This scholarship celebrates trailblazers who use bravery and perseverance to battle prejudice and buttress change. With a donation to this scholarship, you will help to carry on their legacy by supporting students who represent community leadership across divides, cultural pride, tenacity, nonviolent strength, and who desire to reach and serve in rural and underserved communities.

EVERY DOLLAR CONTRIBUTED UP TO $5,000 WILL BE MATCHED THROUGH DEC. 6, 2022!

Si se puede.
