CO Faith Communities United to End Gun Violence

We are Colorado’s only faith-based non-profit working to end gun violence.  In our first decade, we have grown to include 58 diverse Front Range congregations.

 OUR FOCUS. Faith-fueled action to prevent gun violence , to honor and support those affected by it, and provide a prophetic voice for peace in a culture of violence

WHAT WE DO

1. ADVOCATE AND ENGAGE: Establish Rapid Response Networks in congregations to urge legislators’ support for passage of gun safety laws such as Extreme Risk Protection Orders (ERPO).
2. BUILD PARTNERSHIPS: With Guns to Gardens/RAWtools, we hold “safe surrender” events. Over 1,000 unwanted firearms (including assault-style) have been dismantled, creating safer homes and neighborhoods.
3. EMPLOY PUBLIC HEALTH STRATEGIES: We expand awareness of Extreme Risk Protection Orders (ERPOs) as a tool to prevent suicides and mass shootings. We volunteer with the Handgun Intervention Program (HIP) to help non-violent youth chart a safer path after their first handgun possession arrest. 
4. PROVIDE A PROPHETIC VOICE:  We unite faith communities  and amplify our voices in the prophetic work of speaking against the culture of violence proliferated by firearms.
