Support Early Literacy + Connected Families in CO!

I joined Reach Out and Read in August of this year as the Southern Colorado Regional Coordinator. It has been such a wonderful experience thus far and I am so thankful for the opportunity to be a part of Reach Out and Read. I have such a passion for books and literacy. I have my degree an Early Childhood Education and spent three years as a teacher at Pikes Peak Community College's Child Development Center.

In addition to working as a teacher, I previously worked as a substitute librarian at the Pueblo Library. I now have the rewarding role of homeschooling my four children.

Books have the power to bring families together, and to me, that is such an amazing thing. As a mother, I have the ability to connect with my kids and spend quality time with them through books. I am able to use books to help them through their emotions and what they may be feeling.

Reach Out and Read Colorado’s program provides underserved families with books to build home libraries. The simple act of unplugging and reading a book together is proven to increase brain and language development, create strong parent-child connections, and improve kindergarten readiness— And when a child is set up for success from an early age, the possibilities and opportunities are endless!
