The Clyfford Still Museum might be known as a gem in our city’s arts district, showcasing the profound works of one of the 20th century’s most groundbreaking artists. But CSM is much more than a single-artist museum—it's a place where contemporary artists draw inspiration, engage in dialogue with Still's legacy, and contribute to a thriving art scene here in Colorado and beyond.
This Colorado Gives Day, I invite you to join me in supporting CSM’s ongoing work to uplift and empower artists. In recent years, CSM has taken intentional steps to invite working artists into its collections and archives, igniting creativity in ways that carry Still’s legacy forward.
This summer, CSM hosted a residency for contemporary artists and scholars, offering a rare opportunity for deep exploration of Still’s work and ideas. The results have been thought-provoking and revealed a new path for the museum as a space where artists can use our resources to bolster their own work and creative process. CSM is committed to expanding this program with the help of supporters like you and me.
In just a few months, the museum will unveil Held Impermanence, a new exhibition curated by artist and filmmaker Katherine Simóne Reynolds. Spanning six galleries, this exhibit explores Still’s commitment to preserving his collection, yet embraces the scars of time and transitions within the works. Reynolds’ curation invites us to reflect on themes of healing, memory, and change—a perfect example of CSM’s dedication to engaging with contemporary voices.
I hope you'll join me at the Clyfford Still Museum to experience these dynamic changes. Please consider a gift to CSM this season and help redefine what a single-artist museum can be. Every donation, no matter the size, fuels this essential work.
