The Success Foundation is proud to partner with the Greeley-Evans School District 6 Nutrition Services Department to bring school food pantries to all traditional public and charter schools.  The equipment at the final four pantries was just installed (thanks to The Weld Trust) and we now have 34 school food pantries in operation!

Why School Food Pantries?

  1. Almost 70% of students in District 6 qualify for free and reduced priced meals and school food pantries are needed to address food insecurity among our students and their families.
  2. School kitchens are recovering food items that previously had to be thrown away but can now be properly packaged, stored and distributed through our pantries.
  3. When kids have access to healthy meals every day, they feel better, perform better, and have fewer behavioral and health problems.

Now that initial installation is complete, the Success Foundation is working to raise funds for long-term sustainability.  While school kitchens are working to recover food, there will always be a need for shelf-stable items.  We also want to make sure resources are available to offer a variety of food options that meet the needs of each school community.

What does it cost to operate a school food pantry for one year?

The average cost to operate a school food pantry in District 6 is $2,000 annually.  The Success Foundation's 3-year goal is to secure multi-year partners for all pantries for long-term sustainability.

Thank you so much for your support of students in Greeley-Evans School District 6!
