Live

The heartbeat of Dancing Spirit Center for the Arts is our vibrant, tri-ethnic community in Ignacio, Colorado. Our mission is to provide a community arts center that enhances creativity and fellowship, promotes the education, appreciation, and enjoyment of the arts, and celebrates the cultural heritage of our population.

Our goal is to build connections, promote healing, and touch lives through creativity, at every age and stage. Some of our students began with us in preschool art programs and, now in high school, they still carry the lessons we shared, often stopping by just to say hello. We've seen teens and adults, initially coming to us through community service requirements, who now choose to volunteer and give back to others. Many adult students who started as learners have now become teachers themselves, helping to nurture the next generation of artists. These enduring connections are the foundation of a healthy and thriving community.

Our grand opening, held on October 25th, marked the beginning of an exciting new chapter for not only the Dancing Spirit Center for the Arts but the community as a whole. It heralded a season of great things to come, attracting many new artists and sparking important conversations about the changes needed in our community. It also highlighted how businesses like ours can play a key role in fostering economic growth and revitalization. The event opened doors for collaboration and inspired a shared vision for the future, emphasizing the power of creativity and art to drive positive change in Ignacio.

Although we are already operating in our new building, there is still much to accomplish, including rebuilding our co-op art gallery and expanding our programs, as well as completing the finishing touches on the new art center. Over the next few years, our plan is to continue offering more than just art education and creative opportunities. We are also focused on providing valuable, real-world professional skills through our incubator program. This initiative invests in our community members, empowering them to turn their dreams into reality, support their families, and contribute to the growth and prosperity of our community.

To complete the remaining construction and facility needs, we require funding for the following:

  • Remaining Miscellaneous Construction Needs: $55,000
  • Power Window Shades: $14,000
  • Acoustic Tiles for Noise Reduction: $6,000
  • Permanent Fencing: $8,000

Total Needed: $83,000

Your support will help us reach these goals and continue transforming lives through creativity. Thank you for being part of this journey.
