Aaron Watson, Dark Sky Certification Specialist and Former Chair of DarkSky Colorado

 DarkSky Colorado is the only statewide nonprofit in Colorado dedicated solely to restoring the natural nighttime environment and protecting communities and wildlife from the harmful effects of light pollution. We need your help so we can continue expanding our work throughout the state. 

The State of Colorado is providing funding for the Dark Sky Mentor Program.  We have already seen a rapid expansion of our dark sky network including new places entering the International Dark Sky Places pipeline to achieve the certification.

We also launched the Colorado Stargazing: Protect the Night educational campaign and are providing free media items like brochures, posters, informational cards, and a suite of videos dedicated to protecting the night in Colorado.

For June of 2024, Governor Polis proclaimed “Dark Sky Month in Colorado.”

The DarkSky organization has completed it's restructuring process, and DarkSky Colorado is now a Colorado 501c3 nonprofit .

DarkSky Colorado is here to stay. There is so much to do and we need your help. Please contribute so we can continue working to preserve, protect, and improve access to the night throughout the state. Help us continue our mission to protect the night!
