Since 1891, the Historic Elitch Theatre has stood as a beacon of culture and creativity in Colorado, hosting legendary performers like Cecil B. DeMille, Grace Kelly, Vincent Price, and Douglas Fairbanks. It was Denver, Colorado’s first cultural center, home to America’s oldest summer stock theatre, and the site of the state’s first-ever moving picture screening in 1896.
For over 130 years, this iconic venue has been a stage for history, art, and memories. But history needs care to endure. Since 2002, the Historic Elitch Theatre Foundation has worked tirelessly to restore this beloved landmark. After 20 years of preservation, live theatre returned last summer with two sold-out productions, proving that the spirit of Elitch is still alive and well.
Your donation supports our Elitch Encore Live Productions, Theatre Kid Summer Camp, our Summer Films, our History Tours, and all of the programming we have yet to add! Additionally, your support helps us with the ongoing efforts to preserve this historic landmark.
